What it is

A curved surface, a centre seam, and thread that holds.

A cap is the hardest garment to embroider well and the one where embroidery shows most. The front is curved in two directions, a six-panel crown has a seam running through the middle of your logo, and the fabric is a stiff twill backed with buckram on structured styles. We hoop every cap on a cap frame, stitch the design from the centre outwards and the bottom upwards so the fabric is pushed away from the seam rather than bunched into it, and digitize the logo specifically for caps — more underlay, slightly wider satin columns, and a sharp 75/11 or 80/12 needle through a stiff tear-away backing.

Positions: the front panel takes a logo up to roughly 12 cm wide by 5–6 cm high on a structured mid-profile cap and a little less on a low-profile dad hat; the left or right side takes a mark around 5 cm; the back, above the closure, takes text or a small logo about 10 cm by 4 cm; the visor edge and the underside of the brim are possible too. Say what you want and we'll show the realistic size on a mockup of the exact cap and colour, drawn from the catalog.

3D puff: a sheet of 2–3 mm foam is laid on the cap and satin stitches are run over it at high density, then the excess foam is torn away and the edges sealed. It suits bold block letters and simple shapes with columns at least 3 mm wide, and it works best on structured caps; fine detail, outlines and small text are stitched flat beside it. Flat embroidery, puff, a Bahrain flag on the side, a name on the back — all on the same cap in one setup. How every choice is made is in the machine embroidery guide.

When to choose it

Which cap, which stitch

01

Structured trucker & snapback

Richardson 112, Yupoong 6606, Otto, Decky: a buckram-backed front that holds a crisp flat logo or 3D puff. The classic for brands, teams and F&B staff.

02

Dad hats & unstructured

'47 Clean Up 4700 and other soft, unstructured crowns: flat embroidery, smaller logos, lighter density, so the crown keeps its shape. Puff is possible, but we'll usually steer you to flat.

03

Fitted & stretch

Flexfit 6277 wool blend and 6477: stretch fabric with a centre seam. Hooped taut on a frame so the logo stays in shape when the cap is worn.

3D puff

Raised front logos

Bold shapes and block letters, columns at least 3 mm wide, on structured fronts. From BHD 2.500 per cap.

Also

Beanies, buckets, visors

Knit beanies get a cut-away backing and a bolder, looser design; bucket hats are hooped flat panel by panel; visors take the front band.

Not this time

Photos and tiny text

Thread can't do a photograph or 2 mm text on a cap front. For a photographic design on a flat-panel cap, DTF is the alternative — we'll say so.

Questions

Answered before you ask

How much does cap embroidery cost in Bahrain?

On your own cap, front logos from about BHD 2.000, side or back positions from BHD 1.500 and 3D puff from BHD 2.500. An embroidered cap including a '47 Brand blank starts from about BHD 6.800, unbranded truckers from BHD 4.500. A new logo carries a one-time digitizing fee of BHD 3.000–5.000.

How big can the logo on the front of a cap be?

Roughly 12 cm wide by 5–6 cm high on a structured mid-profile cap, a little less on a low-profile dad hat. Sides take about 5 cm, the back above the closure about 10 by 4 cm. The mockup shows the true size on your cap.

Can you embroider over the centre seam?

Yes. Six-panel caps are digitized to stitch from the centre outwards and the bottom upwards, which pushes the fabric away from the seam instead of bunching it. The seam disappears under a well-digitized logo.

What is 3D puff embroidery and what does it need?

Satin stitches run over 2–3 mm foam so the logo stands proud of the cap. It needs bold shapes with stitch columns at least about 3 mm wide, works best on structured fronts, and costs from BHD 2.500 per cap.

Flat or 3D puff — which should I pick?

Puff for a bold wordmark or a simple emblem you want seen across a room. Flat for anything with detail, thin lines, small text or many colours. Many caps combine both: a puff wordmark with a flat tagline.

Can you embroider my own caps?

Yes. We check the crown, the fabric and the closure first. Unstructured and very low-profile caps get a smaller, lighter design; mesh backs and some performance fabrics need a particular backing.

Can each cap have a different name or number?

Yes — names, roles or numbers on the back or side from a list you send, at the same price per piece.

How long does cap embroidery take?

Typically 3–5 working days after the mockup is approved; reorders are faster because the file is on record.

Which cap styles do you have in stock in Bahrain?

20 styles and 448 colourways: '47 Brand Clean Up, Yupoong retro truckers and classics, Flexfit fitted and wool blends, Richardson 112, Otto and Decky structured caps, Imperial performance caps and vineyard vines. Every colour has its own page in the catalog.
